Paul Gandy Lankford, a Virginia Beach educator who died on May 7, 2025, is honored for his 40-year career teaching English in public and private schools

Graduated from The College of William & Mary in 1969 and taught at Bayside High School, served as English Department chair at Green Run High School for over 20 years, and taught at Cape Henry Collegiate School for nine years

First high school teacher appointed to the Comparative and World Literature Committee of the National Council of Teachers of English, later serving as chair for three years

Volunteered with Friends of Virginia Beach Animal Control, the historic Francis Land House, and served as president of the Tidewater Antiques and Arts Association

Survived by his wife of 44 years, Deborah, and son Alan; the House of Delegates directs the Clerk to present a copy of the resolution to his family
