Warren Thompson began his career as an intern at Marriott International, rising to vice president of the airport division before founding his own company through a buyout of more than 30 Marriott restaurants

Thompson holds degrees from Hampden-Sydney College and the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, financing his education through a hog business he purchased at age 16

Recognized for philanthropy supporting historically Black colleges and universities, the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, and received the 2024 Inclusion Innovator Award from the National Restaurants Association
