Charles Dwight Chavis of Henrico County died on March 3, 2026, and is survived by his daughters Kellie and Brandi and their families

Worked as a tractor trailer driver for Chavis Transfer, which was at one point the largest Black-owned trucking company in Richmond, traveling across 48 states throughout his career

Grew up in South Richmond and later moved to Varina, where he graduated from Varina High School; was the youngest child of Horace and Patricia Chavis

Enjoyed woodworking, cooking, and sewing, creating handmade gifts for family and friends, and was a member of St. James Baptist Church

The House of Delegates directs the Clerk to prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to his family
