Founded a successful commercial construction company in 1978, becoming a pioneering woman entrepreneur in the male-dominated construction industry

Served on numerous business and civic boards including the Virginia Board for Contractors, Virginia Beach Planning Commission, Virginia Beach Development Authority, and National Association of Women Business Owners

Helped found Virginia Beach Meals on Wheels and co-chaired fundraising for the Sadler Center for the Performing Arts, with extensive involvement in community organizations

Received numerous honors including First Citizen of Virginia Beach, Junior Achievement Hall of Fame induction, and awards from the Salvation Army, YWCA, and Girl Scouts of the USA
