Prohibits Virginia public schools, school board employees, and school volunteers from using social media platforms as the sole means of communication with students for school-related extracurricular activities

School division-approved communication or messaging applications remain permitted under the new restrictions

Division superintendents or their designees may grant written exceptions when social media use is required to meet objectives that cannot reasonably be achieved otherwise

Any exception granted must include clear written instructions on permitted use and may be revoked at any time by the superintendent or designee

Adds new section 22.1-79.3:2 to the Code of Virginia, requiring each school board to implement these prohibitions
