Impersonating a law-enforcement officer remains a Class 1 misdemeanor for a first offense, with second or subsequent offenses elevated to a Class 6 felony

Creates a new Class 6 felony for impersonating a law-enforcement officer while committing or attempting murder, abduction, rape, or other serious sexual offenses (violations of §§ 18.2-31, 18.2-32, 18.2-47, 18.2-61, 18.2-67.1 through 18.2-67.4)

Establishes a Class 6 felony for impersonating an officer while circumventing or attempting to bypass security measures at businesses, residences, or government buildings

Second or subsequent offenses of the enhanced felony provisions are elevated to Class 5 felonies

The Virginia Criminal Sentencing Commission assigned a minimum fiscal impact of $50,000 due to anticipated increases in imprisonment periods
