Students who complete requirements for an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma will automatically satisfy all course and credit requirements for a Virginia advanced studies diploma without additional coursework, except for training in emergency first aid/CPR/AED use and Virginia/U.S. history and government courses

Transfer students entering Virginia public high schools after grade 10 who are pursuing both an IB diploma and advanced studies diploma may substitute certain IB courses for Virginia/U.S. history, Virginia/U.S. government, and economics and personal finance credit requirements

The Board of Education must grant waivers from the CPR/first aid training requirement for students whose individualized education program or Section 504 Plan prevents completion, or for students who transfer after grade 10 from schools that don't require health/physical education courses

The Board of Education is directed to amend regulations in 8VAC20-132-51 to implement these changes for IB diploma students seeking advanced studies diplomas
