Commends the Virginia Black Restaurant Experience (VBRE) on its 10th anniversary in 2026, founded in 2016 by Shemicia Bowen, Amy Wentz, and Kelli Lemon to celebrate Black-owned restaurants in Greater Richmond

VBRE has grown from 19 participating restaurants in its first year to more than 60 restaurants, food trucks, caterers, and culinary entrepreneurs

The event has generated millions of dollars in economic activity for the Richmond region, supporting small business owners, local suppliers, and hospitality workers

During the COVID-19 pandemic, VBRE provided critical support by connecting restaurant owners to resources, emergency visibility, and advocating for grants to help businesses survive

VBRE now operates across Richmond, Petersburg, Hampton, Harrisonburg, Henrico County, and Chesterfield County, attracting tens of thousands of visitors and inspiring similar models in other municipalities
