Charles Douglas Poindexter of Glade Hill, a former Virginia House of Delegates member representing the 9th District (Floyd, Franklin, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania counties) for 14 years, died on February 4, 2026

Poindexter had a 30-year career in national defense, working on intelligence and command software for the U.S. Air Force, and retired from the MITRE Corporation as site manager and senior principal systems engineer at Joint Base Langley-Eustis

Prior to state office, he served eight years on the Franklin County Board of Supervisors representing the Union Hall District and held leadership roles on regional planning commissions

As a delegate, he led initiatives to widen U.S. Route 58 between Stuart and Hillsville, helped establish a drug court in Franklin County, and served on the Committees on Appropriations, Finance, and Agriculture, Chesapeake and Natural Resources

The resolution directs the Clerk of the Senate to present a copy to his family, including his wife Janet of 37 years and six children
