Christian A. "Sonny" Jurgensen III, former Washington Commanders quarterback and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, died on February 6, 2026

Drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1957, he won the 1960 NFL Championship and set an NFL record with 3,723 passing yards in his first season as starter

Played 11 seasons with Washington (1964-1974), earning five Pro Bowl selections, throwing 255 career touchdowns, and retiring with the highest completion percentage (57.1%) in NFL history at the time

Following retirement, worked as a sports broadcaster in Washington, D.C., until 2019, retiring at age 85
