Joanne Terenzio Blakemore, a lifelong civic leader and Charlottesville community member, died on November 30, 2025, and is honored by the Virginia General Assembly

Lived abroad for 40 years in Singapore, Tokyo, Paris, and Doha, founding the ASEAN Children's Foundation in Singapore and organizing a 9/11 memorial attended by more than 10,000 people

Served on numerous Charlottesville boards including Georgia's Friends, Charlottesville Opera, University of Virginia Cancer Center, and the Rivanna Garden Club

Volunteered extensively with Meals on Wheels, International Rescue Committee, Legal Aid Justice Center, and Salvation Army, as well as in disaster-stricken areas worldwide

Resolution directs the Clerk of the Senate to present a copy to her family, including her husband of 45 years Haywood, children Jessica and Emily, and granddaughter Madeline Louise Murphy
