Barbara Radcliffe Grey, educator, art curator, and Richmond community member, died on June 7, 2025, and is honored by the Virginia General Assembly

Graduated from Virginia Union University in 1947 and began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Buckingham County before teaching in France and Germany in the early 1950s

Served Richmond Public Schools from the mid-1950s until retirement in 1990, working as principal of several schools including William Fox Elementary and establishing alternative schools

Became director of the VUU Museum Art Galleries in 2006, preserving African American and African art at the L. Douglas Wilder Library

Received numerous honors including "Richmonder of the Year" from Style Weekly in 1988, a Richmond History Makers award in 2016, and an honorary doctorate from VUU in 2019
