Marvin Ashby, Sr., a renowned guitarist and Winchester native, died on July 25, 2025, after nearly 50 years of performing across the mid-Atlantic region

Started playing guitar at age six, inspired by his grandfather's bluegrass style, and formed his first band, Mainline, in 1975, followed by several other groups through the early 1990s

Founded Marvin Ashby and High Octane in 2010, touring Virginia, the Carolinas, West Virginia, and Maryland while recording seven albums through 2024

Published his memoir, "Marvin Ashby: My Musical Journey – The Story of a Lefty's Passion," in 2023 and released a solo album, "Hometown Blues," in 2019

The General Assembly directs the Clerk of the Senate to present a copy of this resolution to his family in his memory
