Alyssa Lynn Albina Kakol, an Ashburn community member and educator, passed away on December 1, 2025, and is honored by the Virginia General Assembly through this joint resolution

Born in Russia with a cleft lip and palate and adopted at a young age, she graduated from Loudoun Valley High School in 2010 and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Shenandoah University

Worked as a teacher with Loudoun County Public Schools before transitioning to preschool education at the Gardner School of Herndon during the COVID-19 pandemic

Named Teacher of the Year in 2024 by colleagues and leadership at the Gardner School of Herndon in recognition of her dedication to students

The Clerk of the Senate is directed to present a copy of this resolution to her surviving family, including parents Dennis and Theresa and siblings Paul, Laura, Ann, Sara, and Jacob
