DePaolis graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Lafayette College in 1971, served as a U.S. Army lieutenant, and earned his law degree from George Washington University Law School

Won the landmark case Wilson v. Johns-Manville Sales Corp., establishing the right of asbestos victims to file separate claims for asbestosis and later-diagnosed mesothelioma, a precedent followed by courts nationwide

Served as a judicial law clerk and assistant U.S. attorney before joining Koonz, McKenney, Johnson and DePaolis in 1980, where he represented accident and medical negligence victims

Active in Northern Virginia civic associations and coached youth sports in West Springfield Little League, Burke Soccer Club, and Burke Athletic Club for over 20 years
