Honors Jerrauld C. Jones, a Norfolk native who died on May 31, 2025, after serving as a House of Delegates member, Department of Juvenile Justice director, and judge on two Norfolk courts

Served in the House of Delegates from 1987 to 2002, representing the 89th District for 15 years and serving on several committees including the Rules Committee

Delivered a notable 1999 speech about his experiences as one of the first Black students to integrate Ingleside Elementary School in 1961, leading to bipartisan support to prohibit Confederate flag imagery on Sons of Confederate Veterans license plates

Served as Director of the Department of Juvenile Justice from 2002 to 2005 under Governor Mark Warner, then was appointed to the Norfolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court and later the Norfolk Circuit Court, where he served until retirement in 2024

Directs the Clerk of the Senate to present a copy of this resolution to his surviving family, including his wife Lyn and son Jay
