State institutions, State universities (University of Vermont), and State colleges (Vermont State Colleges) must give preference to local Vermont foods when prices are comparable to non-local options

Local foods must be purchased unless they cost more than 10 percent above non-Vermont food prices

Food service management companies bidding on school nutrition program contracts must include information on how they can supply locally produced foods to help schools qualify for local foods incentive grants

"Local food" is defined by existing Vermont statute (9 V.S.A. § 2465a) as food grown or made in Vermont
