Expands who can complete the first certification for emergency mental health examinations from licensed physicians only to include advanced practice registered nurses and physician assistants

Requires health care professionals to successfully complete training developed and administered by the Department of Mental Health before issuing emergency examination certificates

Changes who can submit written applications for emergency examinations from "an interested party" to "a qualified mental health professional"

Defines "health care professional" for certification purposes as physicians licensed under 26 V.S.A. chapter 23 or 33, advanced practice registered nurses licensed under chapter 28, or physician assistants licensed under chapter 31

Takes effect July 1, 2026
