Qualifying devices must plug into standard receptacles, include automatic shutoff during power outages, and be certified by Underwriters Laboratories or equivalent testing laboratory

Public Utility Commission must develop a simple notification form by September 10, 2026, in consultation with the Division of Fire Safety and electric distribution companies

Electric utilities cannot require customers to obtain pre-approval, pay fees, or install additional equipment beyond what is integrated into the portable solar device

Portable solar devices are not eligible for net metering, and devices in public buildings must comply with Fire and Building Safety Code requirements; effective July 1, 2026
