Violations punishable by up to one year imprisonment, a fine up to $500, or both

Exempts federal and Vermont-certified law enforcement officers and active members of the Vermont National Guard, other state National Guards, and U.S. Armed Forces

Defines covered weapons as semiautomatic rifles and pistols with detachable magazines plus specific features (folding stocks, pistol grips, threaded barrels, etc.), and semiautomatic shotguns with features like detachable magazines or fixed capacity over seven rounds

Excludes manually operated firearms (bolt, pump, lever, slide action), permanently inoperable firearms, antique firearms, and semiautomatic rifles/shotguns limited to five-round capacity
