Stealing a firearm of any value constitutes grand larceny, punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment and/or $5,000 fine (previously only applied to thefts exceeding $900)

Second or subsequent offenses for firearm possession by prohibited persons carry enhanced penalties of up to 3 years imprisonment and/or $5,000 fine, increased from 2 years and $1,000 for first offenses

Firearm possession is prohibited for persons found by a court to need mental health treatment, including those found not guilty by reason of insanity of violent crimes or incompetent to stand trial for certain serious offenses

Possession of machine guns is prohibited, with exceptions for weapons registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record maintained by the ATF

Firearm industry members may be held liable for public nuisance if they knowingly contribute to harm through the sale, manufacture, or marketing of firearms, and must implement reasonable controls to prevent sales to prohibited persons and straw purchasers
