Vacancies on union school district boards for seats apportioned to specific towns must be filled by appointing a person chosen by the selectboard of the affected member town, rather than through consultation with the selectboard

Appointments fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term, eliminating the current requirement for voters to elect a successor at an annual or special meeting

Applies to unified union school districts, union elementary districts, and union high school districts, covering both proportional-to-population seats and modified at-large allocation models

Removes the exception that allowed districts with articles of agreement approved on or before July 1, 2019 to follow different procedures
