General Assembly extends sincere condolences to the family of Mary Jane Dickerson, former UVM associate professor of English who died October 3, 2024 at age 87

Dickerson served at UVM as director of freshman English, associate director of writing, and developed UVM's first class in African American literature and a course in women's autobiography

Received UVM's George V. Kidder Outstanding Faculty Award and was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2016; established the Mary Jane Dickerson Scholarship Fund in 2007 to support English majors

Cofounded Sundog Poetry organization supporting Vermont poets and published two poetry volumes: Water Journeys in Art and Poetry and Tapping the Center of Things: Poems

Secretary of State directed to send a copy of the resolution to Dickerson's family and the Jericho Town Clerk
