Vermont General Assembly congratulates Doris G. Dexter of Shaftsbury on her 100th birthday, born February 3, 1926, in Detroit, Michigan

During World War II, she worked as a welder building tanks at a Cadillac automotive plant, following the "Rosie the Riveter" tradition

Earned degrees from Michigan State University and a master's from University of Wisconsin, with additional study at the Sorbonne in Paris on a French language scholarship

Volunteered for civil rights causes with the ACLU and Monroe Citizens for Public Education & Religious Liberty, and has been an active classical pianist and choral singer with the Bennington County Chorale Society since moving to Vermont in 2004
