Wages from work that would not qualify an individual for unemployment insurance benefits will be excluded when calculating weekly unemployment benefit amounts under the "disregarded earnings" provision.

Educational institution employees working in non-instructional, non-research, and non-principal administrative capacities (such as custodians, cafeteria workers, and support staff) will become eligible for unemployment insurance benefits between academic terms.

The existing restriction that denied benefits to non-instructional school employees during periods between successive academic years or terms is repealed.

Instructional, research, and principal administrative staff at educational institutions remain ineligible for unemployment benefits between academic terms if they have a contract or reasonable assurance of returning.

The act takes effect upon passage.
