Prohibits knowingly possessing firearms or dangerous weapons in Vermont State buildings, with violations punishable by up to 1 year imprisonment and/or $2,000 fine

Increases penalties to up to 5 years imprisonment and/or $10,000 fine when possession is with intent to commit a crime

Exempts law enforcement officers, federal employees on official duty, National Guard and U.S. Armed Forces members on duty, and participants in state-conducted firearms training programs

Excludes buildings or portions leased to private tenants for exclusive use, and allows possession when pre-authorized by the Department of Buildings and General Services or tenant agency

Defines "dangerous weapon" broadly but excludes pocket knives with blades under 2.5 inches; effective date is July 1, 2026
