Eliminates the mandatory presentence investigation report requirement before a court can impose a deferred sentence, allowing courts to proceed directly after an adjudication of guilt

Repeals the provision requiring courts to order a presentence investigation unless the State's Attorney agrees to waive it for deferred sentences without a written agreement

Repeals the requirement that courts review the presentence investigation and victim's impact statement with the parties before deferring sentence

Retains victim rights to submit written or oral statements concerning sentence deferment consideration

Effective date: July 1, 2026
