Licensed hospitals in Vermont must include fentanyl testing whenever conducting a urine drug screening to assist in diagnosing a patient's condition

Hospitals and their employees are prohibited from disclosing fentanyl screening results to law enforcement unless a valid warrant or subpoena is presented

Hospitals and employees receive immunity from civil and criminal liability when disclosing results to law enforcement in good faith reliance on the warrant/subpoena requirement

"Urine drug screening" is defined as chemical analysis testing patients for multiple drugs including cocaine, opioids, and phencyclidine
