WA HB1020

Removes the minimum age requirement of 16 for students to participate in dropout reengagement programs, allowing any student eligible to be enrolled in high school and under age 21 to qualify

Expands eligibility to include students enrolled in institutional education programs (such as juvenile detention facilities) in addition to those in traditional school districts

Maintains program requirements including academic instruction toward high school diploma or equivalency, case management services, and tuition-free college course enrollment at community or technical colleges

Requires the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction to adopt and amend rules as necessary to implement the expanded eligibility criteria
