Knowingly distributing a forged digital likeness (deepfake) of another person with intent to defraud, harass, threaten, or intimidate becomes criminal impersonation in the second degree, a gross misdemeanor

"Forged digital likeness" is defined as a digitally created or altered visual representation or audio recording of an identifiable individual that is indistinguishable from genuine content and likely to deceive a reasonable person

Protected speech exemptions include cultural, historical, political, religious, educational, and newsworthy content, as well as art, commentary, satire, and parody

Interactive computer services, mobile telecommunications providers, and broadband providers are shielded from liability for content provided by others
