State Building Code Council must adopt the International Wildland Urban Interface Code by November 1, 2029, following completion of statewide wildfire hazard and base-level wildfire risk maps for each county

Counties, cities, and towns issuing building permits for parcels in high hazard and very high hazard wildfire areas must apply the adopted code requirements

Department of Natural Resources must establish and maintain statewide wildfire hazard maps (designating low, moderate, high, and very high hazard areas) and base-level wildfire risk maps, coordinating with regional fire defense boards before final approval

Local governments may adopt local amendments to the code with fire marshal approval; amendments affecting residential buildings require state building code council approval

Defensible space requirements under the code must align with Growth Management Act, shoreline master programs, and other state environmental regulations through coordination with multiple state agencies
