Student and faculty regents/trustees at Washington public universities may now participate and vote on the initial selection and hiring of university presidents, whereas they were previously excluded from all faculty hiring, discipline, and tenure decisions

Applies to the University of Washington, Washington State University, regional universities, The Evergreen State College, and community/technical college districts

Student trustees at community colleges may also participate in presidential hiring, though they remain excluded from collective bargaining matters

Declared an emergency measure, taking effect immediately upon passage
