School districts receiving Beginning Educator Support Team program funding must prioritize providing trained mentors to novice school nurses in their first, second, or third year working in a school-based role

"Novice school nurse" is defined as a registered nurse or advanced registered nurse practitioner in their first three years of school-based employment

The bill amends RCW 28A.415.265 to add school nurses to the existing mentorship program that already covers beginning principals, teachers, and educational staff associates

Mentors must complete training in assisting, coaching, and advising, meet standards developed by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and participate in ongoing professional development
