Apprentices enrolled in general journey level electrician programs operated by single-employer apprenticeship committees may continue performing work under their valid specialty electrician certificate of competency without changing their program status

Employers must submit quarterly attestations to the Department of Labor and Industries detailing hours worked under the specialty certificate, and provide annual notice to apprentices about wages and potential delays to wage progression

Hours worked under the specialty electrician certificate do not count toward the work experience hours required to complete the journey level apprenticeship program

Employers using this provision are exempt from continuous employment requirements if they provide apprentices at least 800 working hours annually that count toward program completion

The Department of Labor and Industries director shall suspend employers from these authorizations for willfully or repeatedly submitting incorrect information or failing to timely submit required attestations
