Unlicensed individuals, corporations, or entities are prohibited from owning medical practices, employing licensed health care providers, or engaging in the practice of medicine in Washington state

Medical practice corporations must have licensed health care providers hold majority voting shares, constitute a majority of directors, and hold all officer positions except secretary and treasurer

Non-physicians at hospitals, surgical facilities, nursing homes, birthing centers, and hospice agencies are prohibited from controlling clinical decisions including patient time limits, discharge timing, diagnoses, coding, staffing levels, and billing policies

Medical practice owners cannot simultaneously have ownership or management roles in management services organizations that contract with the practice, and cannot transfer control over clinical operations, hiring/firing of providers, or revenue disbursement

Violations constitute unprofessional conduct subject to disciplinary action, and all licensed health care providers must attest to awareness of these corporate practice regulations upon license application or renewal
