HVAC/refrigeration specialty electricians would be authorized to install, repair, replace, and maintain branch circuits connecting outdoor and indoor units of ductless mini-split systems in residential and multifamily buildings up to six stories

Electrical work permitted includes single phase circuits not exceeding 250 volts or 20 amps, condensate pump wiring, disconnect switches, junction boxes, and raceway/conduit systems up to six feet indoors or any length outdoors

Equipment must be certified by a department-accredited electrical product testing laboratory and include manufacturer specifications for wiring between system components

Addresses the current shortage of certified electricians in Washington State while responding to increased demand for ductless mini-split systems driven by energy codes and home electrification requirements

Adds a new section to chapter 19.28 RCW governing the electrical installation and maintenance industry
