Department of Health must establish a matching grant program for critical access hospitals to hire licensed athletic trainers who will provide free services to local school district students

Matching funds of up to $60,000 available to hospitals that demonstrate they have dedicated funds to pay an athletic trainer's salary

Grant funds may only cover athletic trainer salaries, medical supplies and equipment, and education/marketing for program awareness

Hospitals must document the school districts to be served, how funds will be spent, and ability to provide matching funds; hospitals cannot receive another grant within 12 months of a prior grant

Department must submit implementation status report to legislature by June 1, 2026
