Expands third-degree assault protections for transit workers to cover all persons employed by or working under contract with public or private transit companies, not just operators, drivers, supervisors, mechanics, and security officers

Extends the same expanded protections to school transportation workers, covering all persons employed by or contracting with school district transportation services or private school transportation contractors

Requires the assault to occur while the transit or school transportation worker is performing official duties at the time of the assault

Amends RCW 9A.36.031, with assault in the third degree remaining a class C felony
