Reduces the deadline for insurance carriers to request refunds from health care providers from 24 months to 6 months after payment was made for standard claims

Shortens the refund request deadline for coordination of benefits situations from 30 months to 9 months after payment

Eliminates separate, longer timeframes that previously applied specifically to mental health and substance use disorder services, creating uniform deadlines across all service types

Maintains existing requirements that providers have 30 days to contest refund requests and carriers cannot demand contested refunds be paid sooner than 6 months after the request

Takes effect January 1, 2027
