School districts must develop cardiac emergency response plans for each school and athletic facility beginning in the 2026-27 school year

Each school must designate a cardiac emergency response team including coaches, nurses, athletic trainers, teachers, counselors, and administrators

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) must be placed throughout campus with the goal of reaching a cardiac arrest victim within three minutes, stored in unlocked locations with clear signage

Plans must be rehearsed at least annually and coordinated with local emergency service providers

Staff training in CPR, first aid, and AED use must follow American Heart Association or other evidence-based guidelines
