House Resolution 4697 formally recognizes Dr. Bernal Baca for his service, dedication, and commitment to the people of Washington state

Dr. Baca was instrumental in establishing the Washington State Commission on Hispanic Affairs in the early 1970s, later serving two terms as Chair, two terms as Vice Chair, and nearly two terms on the executive committee after being appointed by Governor Inslee in August 2020

Served 30 years as a professor at Yakima Valley College and 10 years as Government Relations Specialist for the American Federation of Teachers – Washington

Following retirement, served as Executive Director of a Tacoma-based nonprofit providing social, cultural, and educational services to the Pierce County Latino community

Resolution directs the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives to transmit a copy to the family of Dr. Bernal Baca
