School districts must collaborate with local law enforcement, public safety answering points, and safety/security staff to develop emergency response systems using evolving technology to expedite law enforcement response during school threats or emergencies

Emergency response systems must include at least one of: panic/alert buttons tied to school administration and emergency responders, live video or audio feeds with law enforcement access, remote door control, live two-way communications, or systems complying with state building code requirements

School districts must submit implementation progress reports to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction by October 1, 2025, with OSPI compiling and reporting findings to the legislature by December 1, 2025

Requirements apply to traditional public schools, charter schools, and state-tribal education compact schools

The act is officially named "Alyssa's law" and takes effect July 27, 2025
