Interscholastic and intercollegiate athletics must be organized into five categories based on sex chromosomes (XX or XY) combined with gender identity, applying to both K-12 schools (grades 7+) and higher education institutions

Student eligibility for each category can be determined through medical documentation demonstrating chromosomal makeup

Students deprived of athletic opportunities or harmed by violations may file private lawsuits seeking injunctive relief, monetary damages (including for psychological, emotional, or physical harm), and attorneys' fees within a two-year statute of limitations

Schools and institutions are protected from adverse actions by governmental entities, licensing organizations, or athletic associations for maintaining separate teams based on these designations

Requirements do not apply to athletic activities consisting primarily of students in kindergarten through sixth grade
