School districts, charter schools, and state-tribal education compact schools serving grades 9-12 are encouraged to offer instruction in bone marrow and blood donation awareness, which may be included in at least one health class required for graduation beginning with the 2025-26 school year.

Schools serving grades K-8 may offer age-appropriate instruction in bone marrow and blood donation awareness.

Instructional programs must be provided by nationally recognized organizations such as the National Marrow Donor Program, American Red Cross, America's Blood Centers, or Bloodworks Northwest.

The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction must post links to approved instructional programs on its website.

Schools may deliver instruction directly or through community-based providers, and certificated instructional staff are not required to provide the instruction.
