Beginning in the 2027-28 school year, school districts and private schools are authorized to maintain a supply of albuterol (aerosol, powder, or solution for inhalers/nebulizers) at each school in a designated location for emergency use

School nurses may administer albuterol to any student experiencing respiratory symptoms; designated trained personnel may only administer to students who already have an albuterol prescription on file

The Secretary of Health or designee must issue statewide standing orders to prescribe albuterol to schools, expanding existing authority that already covers epinephrine for anaphylaxis

Licensed health professionals, pharmacists, school nurses, and school personnel are protected from civil and criminal liability when administering albuterol in substantial compliance with prescriptions and school policies, unless there is conscious disregard for safety or gross negligence

By January 1, 2027, the Superintendent of Public Instruction and Secretary of Health must develop uniform procedures for accessing and administering school-supplied albuterol
