Medicaid payments for services provided by federally-designated rural emergency hospitals would be made contingent on legislative appropriation rather than automatic.

The change applies regardless of whether the Medicaid beneficiary is enrolled in managed care.

Amends RCW 74.09.5225, which governs hospital payment methodologies for medical assistance programs.

Existing payment structures for critical access hospitals and sole community hospitals with enhanced rates (125% of fee-for-service) remain unchanged.
