Dental procedures requiring deep sedation or analgesia must use a multiprovider system, where the dentist performing the procedure and the person administering/monitoring sedation are two separate individuals

The person administering deep sedation must be a licensed health care provider acting within their scope of practice

Deep sedation is defined as drug-induced depression of consciousness where patients cannot be easily aroused but respond to repeated or painful stimulation, and may need assistance maintaining an airway

Amends RCW 18.32.640 to add these new requirements to existing dental commission rules governing sedation and anesthesia
