Cities, towns, code cities, counties, and water-sewer districts are prohibited from banning sewage grinder pumps for new residential buildings in specific circumstances

Sewage grinder pumps must be allowed when buildings are located below grade of a public sewer line, connected to low-pressure sewer systems, or positioned where gravity cannot effectively move wastewater

The prohibition also applies to new residential communities where geologic conditions or excessive topography make gravity sewer systems cost-prohibitive
