Washington State Legislature requests the U.S. Department of State to conduct an independent investigation into the September 6, 2024 killing of Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi, a 26-year-old U.S. citizen from West Seattle, who was fatally shot by an Israeli military sniper while serving as a peaceful human rights observer in the West Bank

Eygi was a June 2024 University of Washington psychology graduate and community organizer who raised over $47,000 for medical aid to Gaza and advocated for Palestinian students, climate justice, and immigrant rights

The memorial also references Rachel Corrie of Olympia, another Washington resident killed by Israeli military forces in Gaza in March 2003, noting that accountability for her death was never achieved through U.S. diplomatic channels or Israeli courts

Copies of the memorial are to be transmitted to President Trump, the Secretary of State, the Department of State, and all members of Congress from Washington State
