Washington State Senate resolution honoring Frank Chopp, who passed away March 22, 2025, at age 71

Chopp served as Speaker of the House for 20 years, the longest-serving Speaker in Washington State history, after being elected to represent the 43rd Legislative District in 1994

His legislative legacy includes co-founding the Housing Trust Fund, and advancing the inflation-adjusted minimum wage, paid family and medical leave, Marriage Equality, the Dream Act, the Voting Rights Act, and the College Bound Scholarship Program

Prior to elected office, served as executive director of the Fremont Public Association (now Solid Ground) and helped create the Low Income Housing Institute, Survival Services Coalition, and Seattle Tenants Union

Resolution extends condolences to his wife Nancy and children Narayan and Ellie; adopted by the Senate on April 24, 2025
